The DMD Hub Site Feasibility and Clinical Trial Database

The DMD Hub Site Feasibility and Clinical Trial Database is part of the DMD Hub tools and services offer, allowing colleagues at DMD Hub clinical trial sites to provide and store information about their relevant experience in running clinical trials in Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), as well as what facilities are available at their site.

The database is managed by the DMD Hub coordination team based at The John Walton Muscular Dystrophy Research Centre, Newcastle University, and funded by Duchenne UK.

The database will be used to provide a bespoke and unique service to industry to specifically understand the feasibility of running clinical trials at DMD Hub sites. It will enable DMD Hub sites to maintain information about their experience and facilities, via one central system, enhancing the site’s ability to respond to feasibility questionnaires from industry and CROs in an efficient, effective and timely manner whilst reducing the burden on site staff for each individual request received. In turn this will have an impact on the ability of sponsors to quickly identifying appropriate and interested sites and reduce timelines for sites initiating the set-up of clinical trials across the UK.

The two-way flow of information in the database will allow the central coordination team to share information about ongoing and upcoming clinical trials with sites in a timely manner whilst facilitating sites to keep an up-to-date list of all current and upcoming clinical trials at their site, as well as the number of participants recruited to each study.

The central database will also be used by the DMD Hub coordination team to collect impact data on the number of trials opening and ongoing in the UK and the number of patients recruited to these trials. This data will be used to show the impact of the DMD Hub, feedback relevant information to patients via the patient platform and facilitate interactions with NIHR/ DHSC and potential funders / collaborators.
